Materials Management-Sourcing Specialist I
This position ensures the availability of vendors/materials required for plant operations to include direct and indirect material.
The temporary worker is responsible for but not limited to the following objectives:
1. In conjunction with cost engineers, project engineers and others, verify material availability for potential or new projects
2. Source new vendors as needed where duplicate sources or new sources are required
3. Assist material management specialists to ensure the continuity of materials required for manufacturing and plant operations
4. Drive continuous improvements and cost reductions with suppliers
5. Develop and execute supply strategies
6. Utilize ERP/MRP to procure and manage supply/demand
7. Participate and manage the team vendor assessments/audits
8. Responsible for quality management systems pertaining to vendor sourcing and approval
9. Participate and provide updates in team/plant meetings
10. Other duties as assigned
11. Availability to travel approximately 25%
Sourcing, planning and procurement of supplies and services
Work with vendors/suppliers on non-conformances and corrective actions
Monitor and communicate supplier performance and participate in performance reviews
Communicate key information regarding material cost, delivery, and availability
Demonstrate effective communication skills
Show understanding of material flow and procedures necessary for proper receipt, identification, storage, and issuing of material
Material shortage and stock out avoidance, monitoring, and improvement
Review drawings and specifications for communicating requirements to suppliers
Proactive inventory management including inventory reductions
Meet or exceed purchasing performance metrics
Utilization of Lean Concepts/Supply Chain Management for the effective procurement/sourcing of materials
Qualifying key suppliers and developing pricing agreements for the purchase of critical materials
Root Cause/Corrective Action planning and the implementation of preventive measures for all major material problems
Investigate work process improvements for cycle time and cost reductions opportunities
Achieve lowest total evaluated purchase cost to maximize return on investment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
BS Degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred
Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar materials procuring/sourcing role is required
Experience in a manufacturing environment and with MRP/ERP systems and related processes
Experience with SAP preferred
Mechanical/technical aptitude a must with ability to procure material to include machined, forged, and formed components in addition to plate and pipe, specified from engineering drawings and specifications
Experience with various grades of material, ASME/ASTM codes, and engineering specifications
Knowledge of ISO 9001 required
A pre-placement Fit for Duty Evaluation is required:
Candidate will occasionally lift up to 35 lbs, squat, climb, reach above shoulder, push/pull, work with/around moving machinery, drive automotive equipment, be exposed to changes in temperature/humidity.
This is a manufacturing site and our vendor sites are as well, so this could be anything from overhead cranes and forklifts, to mobile cranes and other equipment used to move material. The candidate needs to be someone from a manufacturing background based on the requirements of the role. They do not need to operate, but they need to be familiar/comfortable in these types of environments.
There is a company vehicle that they could potentially drive to vendor locations, at least regionally.
This is Florida, most sites are not climate controlled. The offices are, but the shop floor is not..same at the vendor sites. For this position they will need to spend time on the shop floor, or out in the material storage areas.
Climbing/working from heights: I cant define how high..really. This could be over or around stored materials or could be using a ladder in order to access something on a warehouse rack. Also, for some of our processes, there are semi-permanent stairs in order to work from heights.
